Retablos from the Ayacucho region of Peru are known for their detailed scenes which are made from a doughy mixture of boiled potato and gympsum powder. Artists finely craft small figures and place them inside wooden boxes with doors. Themes can range from common market scenes to festivals, and from religious depictions to superstitious fantasies. Each is unique and will be prized by its' owner.
