Ethno Gallery Policies

About Us

EthnoGallery.com is the Internet division of Ethno Imports, Inc., an importer and retailer of fine handicrafts and ethnic folk art since 1992. We are a small company, based in Sarasota, Florida, committed to supporting the work of talented artisans in developing countries by bringing their products to market in the U.S. The owners of Ethno Gallery travel frequently in search of arts and crafts in Mexico, South America and Africa, always attempting to build direct relationships with the actual producers in order to ensure product quality, fair trade relations, and the best prices. They also seek out unique, one-of-a-kind artifacts and antiques, but make an effort to gather items that will not detract culturally from a country and that lend themselves to sustainable development of the crafts industry. With over ten years of experience in the trade, Ethno Imports, Inc. can offer our customers the assurance that we deal in only quality merchandise, acquired in a reputable manner, and that their satisfaction is ensured.

Privacy

We at Ethno Gallery take privacy issues very seriously and abhor the current efforts perpetuated by corporate America and government to gather financial, personal and political dossiers on the activities of every person they can get their hands on. As such we pledge never to share, lend, sell, gift or publish any personal information we may gather on our customers during the course of our business relationship. All financial, demographic or personal information we collect on our customers will stay with us alone and will only be used to enhance the services we offer to our clients. Our web site is secured using the best systems available, and all financial and personal information you might send to us is as safe as possible.

Shipping

As we are a small company, we cannot guarantee that your order will be shipped on the same day we receive the order, but every effort will be made to get it out to you as soon as possible. If we are out of stock and the item is backordered, we will inform you. On the day that we do ship your order, you will receive another email alerting you to expect it soon and detailing the exact charges for packing and shipping.

We are offering free shipping for Sarasota and Bradenton customers.

We generally prefer to ship with UPS within the continental USA and the USPS internationally. But if you have a different preference for shipping, we will accomodate you. If you need an item quickly, let us know when you place your order and we will ship it out one or two-day express. We can also provide you with a UPS tracking number that you can use to contact UPS in order to determine the status of your package. All shipments are insured for loss and breakage.

We cannot always guarantee the immediate availability of all products, due to the common difficulties and delays we encounter while importing handcrafted items from developing countries. Every effort is made to keep Ethno Gallery’s catalog current and up to date, but from time to time we may be out of a listed product. In such an event, we will email you with that news and give you the option of either waiting for the items to come in or canceling your order with us. We will also email you when a product becomes available again, if you wish. One-of-a-kind items, of course, may not be available again.

Payment

EthnoGallery.com will accept payments in three ways:

Credit Cards: We receive American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Your statement will show a payment made to Ethno Gallery, and your account will be charged on the day your package is sent. Our payment form, which you will fill out during your check out from our shopping cart, uses the highest type of security available on the Internet and ensures your safety. If, however, you are still uncomfortable with sending us your credit card information in that manner, please call us and give it to us verbally or by fax. Otherwise you may use:

Money Orders: We will give you the exact amount, including shipping, over the phone or email, and you can make out your money order to Ethno Gallery and mail it to us, or:

Personal Check: We accept personal checks made out to Ethno Gallery. However, your purchase will not be shipped until the check has cleared – typically three to seven days. Email us to get the exact amount of your order including shipping.

Returns

Our products fall into two types: Those that we refer to as regular catalog items, of which we have many; and those that are unique, one-of-a-kind items. The unique items will be clearly identified as such on the website and this is the item you will receive if you purchase it. The catalog items shown are representative of the item you will receive, but not necessarily the exact item. We know you will understand that handcrafted products often exhibit variations and small “flaws.” This is what gives folk art and handicrafts their unique charm and beauty, and makes them objects of desire. The item shown in our catalog may not be exactly what you receive due to variations inherent in handmade craft objects. We make every effort to send you a product that is as close to that which you saw in the catalog as possible, or to explain the differences to you before sending it, but please expect some variance. However, we want you to be happy, so if for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase you may return it to us, at your expense, in the original packaging within 15 days and receive a full refund. We have been in business for over ten years because we take customer satisfaction seriously, and we will do what it takes to make you happy.

Return Procedure: To return an item to us you must first e-mail or call us to receive a Return Authorization Number (RA#). Please write this number on the address label you use to return the item to us and pack it carefully. Make sure that you insure the package with the carrier for the full amount. You will be issued a refund for the returned merchandise within one week of us having received it with the proper RA#. Credit card payments will be refunded to your card. Other types of payments will be refunded with a check from Ethno Imports, Inc. sent to the address you specify. If you wish to exchange the merchandise for something else, just let us know.

Damage Claims: All of the products we ship with UPS are insured for their full value by UPS (or any other carrier we use), and packed carefully by us in our warehouse. If you receive a damaged item, please call or email us and we will contact the shipper and file a claim with them. Save the damaged item and the original packaging for them to inspect and alert us by email or telephone that you are filing a claim. After the shipper confirms the damage, we will either issue you a credit or send you another item.
